GEORGE VULTURESCU
He was born on the 1st of March, 1951, at Tireac, a hamlet in Satu Mare county.
He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the „Babeş-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca. He worked for the culture authority in Satu Mare: the Bookshop Department, the „G. M. Zamfirescu” House of Culture of Satu Mare (as an instructor and then a manager). He was the director of the Department for Culture and National Heritage in Satu Mare county. He is a member of the Writers’ Union of Romania – the Cluj branch – and of the Romanian PEN-Club. He has received the Cultural Merit Order, cathegory A, in literature, having the rank of officer. He is a Doctor in Contemporary Literature (2010). He is currently retired.
He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the literary review „Poesis”, Satu Mare (since 1990 up to the present). The review was awarded several prizes (The Writers’ Union of Romania and the Romanian Association of the Literary Reviews and the Romanian Publishing Houses). He is the organizer of the International Poetry Festival „Cultural Days – The Poesis Frontier”, Satu Mare ( 31 editions).
