BOGDAN-ALEXANDRU STĂNESCU

BOGDAN- ALEXANDRU STANESCU (1979), has been the editor of prestigious literary translation collection Biblioteca Polirom for 14 years. He is now editorial director for Pandora M Publishing House, where he coordinates the foreign fiction collections. He is a book reviewer for major Romanian publications, the founder and president of the independent international literary festival in Bucharest, FILB, and author of six books: 2 collections of essays (What separates us together with the Moldavian writer Vasile Ernu; Enter Ghost. Imaginary letters to Osip Mandelshtam), 2 poetry books (After the battle we stopped to catch our breath and anaBASis) and three novels (The Childhood of Kaspar Hauser, Caragiale. The lost letter and Abraxas). He also translated works by Tennessee Williams (The Glass Menagerie), James Joyce (Letters to Nora), Sandra Newman, Alberto Manguel, Edward Hirsch (The Pale Fire), Sue Prideaux (I’m Dynamite. A life of Nietzsche), William Faulkner (A Rose for Emily and other stories), Paul Auster (The Invention of Solitude) and Daniel Mendelsohn (An Odyssey). Bogdan Stanescu won the Best Young Writer of the Year Award in 2015. He holds a PhD in literature.
