IOAN ES. POP
IOAN ES. POP was born on March 27, 1958, in Vărai, Maramureş, Romania. He received his B.A. in Romanian from the Baia Mare University, in 1983. He taught for six years in Ieud, a village in Maramureş county, the starting point of his first volume of poetry. Since 1989, Pop lives in Bucharest, and works as a journalist and editor.
Pop made his debut with the volume ieudul fără ieşire, Cartea Românească Publishing House, 1994. The same publishing house edited his next two volumes of poetry: porcec (1996), pantelimon 113 bis (2000) and the anthology podul (2000). Pop also published the volumes of poetry rugăciunea de antracit (the anthracite prayer), Dacia Publishing House, 2002, petrecere de pietoni, Paralela 45 Publishing House, 2003, confort 2 îmbunătăţit (along with Lucian Vasilescu), Foreign Publications Publishing House, 2004, lumile livide (the livid worlds), Romanian Cultural Institute Publishing House, 2004, no exit, Corint Publishing House, 2007, unelte de dormit, Cartea Românească Publishing House, 2011, căderea-n sus a corpurilor grele, Tracus Arte Publishing House, 2012, 1983.
